Biological crop protection is on fire right now — and in a good way.
The technology (and the need) have been around for quite some time, but the agriculture industry is experiencing an increase in environmental concerns, regulatory pressures, and market demands that are accelerating the acceptance of biologicals as a crop protection method. Research and tech advancements (such as precision applicators) are ramping up right alongside the rising interest, leading to improved efficacy and effectiveness.
All of these factors play a role in the importance of biologicals in crop protection. What may have been a less-understood or accepted method in the past is now becoming much more mainstream as growing operations see benefits in insect and disease resistance management, improved crop yield and quality, and long-term ROI.
As more growers begin the journey toward biological crop protection, education will be a vital component to success. What makes sense for one grower may not make sense for another. Depending on the geography, crops, threats, soil conditions and more, it’ll be important to understand what will work best — as part of an integrated program with traditional applications or as a standalone biological approach.
In this report, we take a close look at modern methods for protecting plants using biologicals and integrated programs for a variety of crop types from an education, training, and research perspective.
You’ll learn about:
Educating growers on the best use cases for biological products
The increase in research funds devoted to biological inputs by today’s manufacturers
How growers can effectively test biocontrols on-farm
Building a modern IPM program in LATAM
The potential for replacing multisite chemical fungicides with biologicals
